SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL BRIEF – SIMON ARTHUR
Express Introduction
Thankyou for taking the time to consider this sponsorship proposal for Australia’s newest tarmac-racing sensation Simon Arthur. Obviously this is not the ideal time to court sponsorship for the remainder of the 2005 Australian motor racing calendar, but this is an unusual scenario, thus it requires special consideration.
We’ve all heard that before, so we’ll keep this short and let the results speak for themselves.
Very rarely does a driver make a last minute dash to enter a racing series, and push his way to the front of the field in just a few rounds. Let alone to the front of TWO very competitive championship series concurrently – in the Lotus Trophy Series (category B) and Aussie Racing Championships.
But the true significance of this feat only becomes apparent when you consider the fact that this is Simon Arthur’s first full year in motorsport! He has never even seen most of the circuits he is competing at.
After making a huge impression on both series in the last two rounds, Simon Arthur is fast becoming a topic of major interest with many of the industry’s key players. Following the Oran Park round (the Aussie Racing and Lotus Trophy Series’ support the V8 Supercar series), long-respected talent scout and Van Diemen co-owner Greg Siddle immediately offered Arthur a test in a current spec Van Diemen Formula Ford open-wheeler, in the hope of enticing him to the formula next season.
Straight up, the incredible speed in which Arthur has adapted to his respective race craft, and indeed motor racing in itself, is the best indicator as to just how talented this fresh new face is. A raw talent that will very soon come to the attention of the general motor racing fraternity.
Prior to entering the Lotus and Aussie Racing series’ this year, Arthurs motorsport experience can be summed up in a few sentences. A friend offered him a drive in a hillclimb event – he won it. He was then offered the second driver’s position in the same car for the 2004 NSW Dutton tarmac rally – he won it. The three-round 2005 Dutton series – won it. Including outright driver victories in each round and many stage wins.
Professional, personable, articulate and well-presented, Simon Arthur is also a marketing dream. He is well versed in the value of sponsorship, public/media relations and the integral importance of corporate support in motorsport.
Outlined here is a brief account of Simon’s 2005 season so far:

It is important to note that Arthur’s car is the only 1940s style body to run at the front of the field – known to be up to 20km/h slower down the straight to an ‘aero’ Falcon or Commodore replica. The incredible progression from his qualifying to his race results is testament to how quickly he has learnt the circuits, and all-important car set-up. He has done this with minimal to no sponsorship thus far, with no testing outside the allocations on race weekend.
Few sponsorship opportunities offer the value-for-dollar return outlined below:
1) Complete car coverage Lotus Elise for the remaining 3 rounds of the Lotus Trophy Series (9 races in total)

Both series receive guaranteed air-time on Trackside on Channel 10 during prime time motorsport viewing on Sundays.
Simon has also been assured of an on-board camera hook up for one of the remaining rounds, offering excellent exposure for potential sponsors.
The remaining Lotus Trophy rounds will be contested in Tasmania, Phillip Island and at Australia’s Premier motor sport event – Bathurst. The final Aussie Racing rounds are at Sandown – the famed lead-in to the 1000km race around the mountain, and at Indy where hundreds of thousands of motor sport fans gather over one incredible weekend of motor racing. These are prime events for maximum corporate exposure.
This sponsorship proposal represents an excellent opportunity to support a formidable Australian talent from the inception of his brief but already highly impressive career in motorsport, with a view to establishing a lengthy, loyal partnership for a mutually prosperous future.
Arthur is currently planning a serious campaign in the Konica ‘Development’ Series next year with a view to competing in V8 Supercars by 2008.
